What inspired you to get into the Cannabis industry?

One of my closest friends had anxiety and needed to smoke daily in order to help treat this without using prescription medication. As I got older I started realizing that the stigma of cannabis was something that was isolated to a lack of education. When the opportunity presented itself to work with The Novel Tree and I had a chance to meet with Allie and Chris, it helped cement my believes in the legitimacy of this industry. I was able to see their vision and passion for building a business that raises the bar for customer service and product quality.

Can you name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you as a leader? How do apply these values day-to-day?

One of my closest friends of fourteen years has worked with me in multiple jobs and has helped me not only grow as an individual but also as a business professional. I have always admired his logical approach, and strive to evaluate situations in the same way. He has found a way to make a name for himself in a challenging industry, and his passion inspires me to be better at what I do.

What makes The Novel Tree special?

Allie and Chis have surrounded themselves with people that are passionate and share their same enthusiasm and vision. The Novel Tree is a place where guests can feel safe and comfortable while exploring cannabis either for the first time or as an experienced user.

What is the biggest challenge you face today?

One of my biggest challenges is finding a balance between taking care of the team, the guest while also running a successful operation. These three areas are like different piece of a puzzle: they all have to fit together seamlessly in order to create a balanced and harmonious environment.

Where do you think/hope the industry will be in 3-5 years?

I hope that in the future, the perception of cannabis is viewed no differently than alcohol within our culture. Cannabis also has positive effects on the body, and I look forward to its medicinal properties being leveraged over prescription medication.

How do you encourage creative thinking within The Novel Tree?

I try to foster an environment of open communication and collaboration. It's important to me that all managers' and team members' options, view and philosophies are taken into account when making decisions for the business and for our guests.
