Bake & Get Baked: RSO Edibles
Using RSO to make your own edibles at home is both an art and a science. Here at The Novel Tree in Bellevue & Bremerton our budtenders have complied tips and tricks to using the best medical & recreational RSO to make edibles at home.
What is RSO?
RSO, short for Rick Simpson Oil, is a highly potent cannabis extract known for its rich concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes. It's made by using grain alcohol to extract cannabinoids from raw cannabis flower. After the alcohol is evaporated, you're left with a golden-brown oil that captures the essence of the plant. This oil can be ingested either directly or mixed into food and drinks. Making it a perfect way to make edibles at home.
Best ways to infuse products with RSO
There are a few easy ways to make cannabis edibles at home. At the Novel Tree, a top tip is to incorporate it into butter.
One budtender says
“I love to whip a pound of butter and a tube of RSO together, an electric mixer makes it really easy and makes it easier to evenly distribute the RSO.”
This tip is great as it makes the RSO distribute more evenly. Another tip is to put the RSO vial in hot water for a few minutes before combining with the butter. This warms the RSO slightly making it more viscous and easier to incorporate with the butter.
Using your newly made canna-butter in recipes the same as you would regular butter, you can make edibles infused with your favorite RSO.
Dosage on DIY edibles
When purchasing your RSO, make a note of the mg of THC in the vial. If you have any questions on how to figure this out ask your budtender, some RSO vials can have up to 1,000 mgs of THC. Using the entire vial with your 1 lb of canna-butter, and dividing it by the amount of butter and then servings made can help you figure out the math of mg per serving for your DIY dosage. Note that, the same mgs of different strains can have different effects. Always consider the entourage effect for your strain of choice.
An example of Dosage Math
